NPLY Trials

The GUFC NPL Youth Trials are held each year early in Term 4.   Our timetable depends on ground availability and ensuring we can work with Capital Football schedules.

We encourage all players aspiring to become NPL players to attend our trials. In addition to developing and skilling the most promising players, it’s important to note that GUFC is a values-based club that has a heavy focus on commitment, respect, professionalism and enjoyment.  We expect our players to be committed to the values of the Club as much as they are to their own personal growth and development.

NPLY Trials for the 2021 season

Our National Premier League Youth Trials will be held at Nicholls Synthetic starting  Monday 19th October 2020. Trials will consist of 2 sessions in a one-week period plus a single invite-only trial with reduced numbers on Saturday 24th October 2020 for an afternoon session. Please note – treat this information as a guide.  As with anything our selectors may need to modify this slightly depending on numbers, calibre, weather, ground restrictions, etc.

Anybody wishing to trial for GUFC NPL Youth this year MUST register to attend trials.  Registrations strictly close 16th October 2020 at 11:59 pm.  All players wishing to trial for NPL 2021, including current NPL 2020 players, must complete this form.

We will not be taking walk-ups this year due to the strict trialist numbering and identification process we will have in place.

Our trials will be taking place under the guidance of our selection team, which include NPL head coaches and performance head/advisors.  GUFC places emphasis on our core values and a strict adherence to our Code of Conduct in addition to skill, coachability and attitude.

If your player is offered a spot within the GUFC NPLY program, you will be required to accept that offer, sign the contract and pay the deposit within 48 hours to secure your spot or the offer will go to the next player in line.  It is your responsibility to keep an eye on your email inbox in this regard (this includes your junk/spam folders). Please be vigilant in this regard.

Communication regarding trial results will vary across the course of the week.  Some trialists may find out their result after their first trial session, while others may not hear until the end of the trial period.  We know how stressful trials can be on our youth, which is why we are doing what we can to ensure the GUFC process is a quick one.  If you hear that a player has been made an offer, please do not assume that means you have not.  Our offers may roll out one by one, or in small groups, with acceptance required within the nominated period before the next round of offers are made.  Every player who has registered via our form will hear from us one way or another within 2 weeks of the commencement of the trials.

Refer to the offer process spelled out on the registration form for more information.

Please ensure you understand the above before you register your player for GUFC trials and that you double check (and triple check) your contact details in the form before you submit.

Please also ensure you are familiar with our Club Values and the Code of Conduct.

All players trialling are covered by the 2020 Play Football registration insurance.  If your player did not play in the 2020 season, please acknowledge on the form that you understand that in the event of an injury, you may not be covered by FFA/Capital Football insurance.

Note: The women’s trials are run via a different process. For information contact and keep an eye on our Facebook page.
