Community Grading Ages 10 – 18

Community Grading Ages 10 – 18

Feel free to read below so you are ready for grading in 2020.  Grading is held in February every year so if you’re interested in trialing for Division 1 or 2, be sure to mark it in your diary.

From U10s to U18s, GUFC players can choose whether they want to continue down the fun and fitness route by playing with their friends in an ungraded team (Division 3), or they can attend the GUFC grading sessions to be considered for a Division 1 or Division 2 team for a more competitive season with other players keen to play at a higher level.

The aim of the Grading procedure is to place players in a division best suited to their skills and ability.  To ensure an unbiased selection of players, a number of coaches, approved by the GUFC Technical Committee, will supervise and conduct the grading with coaches from last season asked to provide their input where possible.

If you are interested in grading the GUFC grading days will commence the week of 11 February.  Dates, times, age groups and locations are listed below.   It is possible we will add an extra week/dates at short notice in order to get through all of the grading.

Players are required to attend two sessions so that assessors can grade each player properly.  Some players or age groups may have a third date added if assessors feel the need for further assessment.

2019 Grading Schedule

Girls only Grading

IMPORTANT UPDATE: As suggested previously, the girls only grading schedule was a draft only.  The Girls only grading for all ages from U10 to U18 is at Ngunnawal Fields (next to Ngunnawal Primary School) is now as follows:

Thursday 21 February 2019

  • U10-U12 from 5:30 to 6:30
  • U13-U18 from 6:30 to 7:30

To register for grading please head to the Grading Registration page.

Players should turn up at least 15 minutes before grading time to warm up, be marked off the list and so that numbers can be allocated.

All trialists should wear appropriate football attire including shin pads and football boots and bring a drink bottle.

Reminder: Players ONLY need to attend grading if they would like to try out for Divisions 1 or 2.

The venue and timing of grading will be advised as soon as possible.  We await our allocation of grounds from the ACT Government.  It is tricky for all clubs at this time of year as we compete against the summer sports for field availability.

For more information about grading you can contact our Coach Coordinators [email protected]

Note: It is important that players are registered with Play Football and season fees paid with GUFC prior to grading.  Anyone not yet registered for the 2019 season is not covered by insurance in the event of accident or injury.

Grading is held in February every year so if you’re interested in trialing for Division 1 or 2 in 2020, be sure to mark it in your diary.
